“To effectively communicate we must realize that we are all different in a way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others”

– Anthony Robbins

The Communication Team at Participation House provides assistance to the individuals supported, their staff, and family by giving the individual a voice. Providing them with choices in their daily life. We have created tools so they can be heard, express their feelings, and provide ways so they can interact with others around them.

The Communication Team has created a communication Bill of Rights:

At PHSS every person has a right to:

  • Make a choice about objects, people, and activities
  • To be heard
  • Have ways to communicate
  • Privacy
  • Express feelings
  • Refuse unwanted things and activities
  • Right to say NO.
  • To be spoken to in a dignified manner
  • Understand what is being said to them and being done in the world around them
  • To be inlcuded in social interactions
  • Request and receive information
  • To be spoken to directly and not spoken for or talked in the third person when present
  • Interact with people including peers, staff, family, friends, and people in the community

Contact us at commteam@www.participationhouse.com to learn more about the variety of tools, that allows us to assist people in fullfilling the Communication Bill of Rights
