Family Directed Alternatives (FDA) is a support group, founded in 1993, by a group of 13 dedicated families who wanted to improve the current and future quality of life for their adolescent/adult dependent children with disabilities.
We meet the 2nd Thursday of every month from 7pm-9pm at the Siloam United Church, 1240 Fanshawe Park Road East, London, N5X 3Z8.
At our March 12th meeting, we are excited to be hosting a Family Focus Group for the “Special Needs Strategy for Coordinated Service Planning and Integrated Rehabilitation Services.”
If you are the parent of a child or youth with multiple or complex needs you are welcome to attend this Focus Group to give your feedback and perspective about your experience accessing and using services.
A Better Way Forward for Children/Youth With Special Needs
Calling all parents of children/youth with special needs and youth with special needs:
“Parents, youth and service providers are being asked to provide input into the development of improved service system for children and youth with special needs. This project is part of the Ontario Government Special Needs Strategy for Coordinated Service Planning and Integrated Rehabilitation Services. The goal is to make it easier for children and youth to receive services. This is about reorganizing the way that services are delivered to make it easier to get services. The process begins by asking youth, parents/caregivers, service providers and educators for their ideas and feedback.
The Facilitator will be gathering information about your experiences with:
- Coordinated Service Planning: one go-to person, a team approach, to organize the supports and services needed for your child/youth, and
- Integrated Rehabilitation Services: accessing speech-language therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy services from birth to young adulthood
