August 22, 2014 marked the 13th Annual Leo Kirwin Golf Tournament. Our sunny weather streak continued for yet another year and players were met with warm temperatures and blue skies upon their arrival at East Park Golf Gardens.
This year, over 110 participants, including 98 golfers on 25 teams, came out to support Participation House Foundation. It was wonderful to see all the familiar faces as well as many newcomers. With the help of all participants, sponsors, auction, prize and cash donors, the tournament raised over $22,000 – our largest amount ever!!
Proceeds from the event will be used to enhance the lives of more than 300 individuals with severe physical, developmental and complex disabilities, to live in their own homes, participate in the community and enjoy life with family and friends.
Once again, our friends at Custom Mobility – Fred Geiger and Kevin Baxter provided refreshments on the greens and also ran a hilarious “Pitch ‘n Poop” putting contest (with a commode, no less) where Ken Giles was the lucky winner.
A huge silent auction had the crowd outbidding each other for some fantastic items, such as Fleetwood Mac tickets, official NFL swag, and a fully stocked, 20-bottle wine rack!
The fun continued with a delicious catered lunch from the great staff at East Park Golf Gardens, and then the winners were announced by our enthusiastic MC Gary Jazey!
The Committee would like to acknowledge the ongoing support of the Kirwin family and also thank our volunteers for all of their hard work and dedication. A special thank you to our generous Corporate sponsors and Hole sponsors, without whose support the event would not be possible.
We hope to see you all again next year for the 14th Annual Leo Kirwin Golf Tournament on Friday, August 21st, 2015!!
