Participatory Action Research (PAR)

Participation House Support Services – London and Area has instituted a voluntary, self-initiated program of evaluation to gauge the impact of our mission and principles of service on the individuals we support.

The Board of Directors established the Quality Outcomes for People Committee in 2000 to select the methodology for evaluation and subsequently to oversee the annual process and implementation of recommendations. Participatory Action Research was chosen as it is an external, arms length evaluator employing qualitative, quantitative, responsive and participatory methodology.

PHSS has focused each year's evaluation on a different principle of service to ensure the organization is accountable and delivers on the commitments made to those we support.

The Quality Outcomes for People Committee has established a guide for other community-based organizations in the hope that sharing this knowledge with others will improve access and accountability overall.
